Especially developed for the disinfection and conservation of dialyser filters and other hemodialysis reusable equipment.

It is also worth noting that OXIDIAL® is suitable for the sanitation of water generation, storage and distribution facilities as well as hemodialysis filters.

The high biocidal power resulting from the mixture of peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide makes it a highly effective product for killing micro-organisms, viruses, bacteria and fungi. OXIDIAL® reacts with the proteins contained in the micro-organism cell walls, penetrates the cells and attacks the micro-organism enzyme system. OXIDIAL® is a rapid-action product and no micro-organism is known to be resistant to peracetic acid.

Quality

The working procedures established by OXIDIAL S.R.L. for our products ensure that both the raw material and the end product undergo the strictest quality controls. Testing is conducted in laboratories authorized by A.N.M.A.T. (the Argentine equivalent of the Food and Drug Administration) and controls are registered in batches.

Composition

Composition

OXIDIAL® is composed of demineralized water, hydrogen peroxide, acetic acid and stabilizers. The composition resulting from the reaction and stabilization is as follows:

  • Hydrogen Peroxide: 20%
  • Peracetic Acid: 4%
  • Stabilizer: 4%
  • Demineralized Water: 74%

General Properties

  • Considerable biocide and sanitizer activity
  • Provides operational comfort and is easy to operate
  • Easy to dilute
  • Non-foam forming agent
  • Non-corrosive
  • Does not release toxic steam
  • Highly effective against any type of micro-organisms (including spores and viruses)
  • Biodegradable
  • Does not release toxic by-products

OXIDIAL® is an environmentally friendly low-toxicity product, since it decomposes into water, oxygen and acetic acid. Unlike other oxidizing products, it does not release toxic by-products, as in the case of chlorine and formaldehydes.

Compatibility

At the dilutions indicated, OXIDIAL® is compatible with every material that is normally used in water generation equipment as well as in dialysis machines and dialyser filters.

Laboratory trials have shown that at concentrations lower than 5%, irrespective of the contact time, OXIDIAL® does not cause corrosion or chemical attack on materials such as:

  • Stainless steel
  • Polypropylene
  • PVC (polyvinyl chloride)
  • Polyamides
  • Polyethylene
  • Polymethyl methacrylate
  • Polysulfone
  • Cellulose acetate
  • Cuprophan
  • SMC (synthetically modified cellulose)
  • Teflon® TFE (tetrafluoroethylene)
  • KYNAR® PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride)
  • EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer)
  • Silicone
  • Viton® fluoroelastomer

These properties make it possible for OXIDIAL® to be safely used in any type of dialysis equipment.

Safety Recommendations

A 1 to 2 percent concentration of OXIDIAL® is used in solution for sanitizing facilities and machines. A 4 percent maximum concentration of it is used for the conservation and disinfection of dialyser filters. There is no need for temperature control. As a low-temperature sterilizer, it is used at larger concentrations or requires longer contact time.

Note: Concentrations expressed in percentage terms apply only to the OXIDIAL® solution rather than to its components. When reference is made to a 4 percent OXIDIAL® or a 4 percent peracetic acid solution, it means that 1 kg of OXIDIAL® yields 25 liters of ready-to-use solution.

Safety Precautions

Since it is a strong oxidizing agent, certain precautions need to be taken when handling pure product. It is recommended that protective gloves and safety goggles should be worn to prevent eye and skin contact. The product does not release noxious fumes, so there is no need for respiratory protection.
